Downtown LA: A photo essay

To say I love Downtown LA is an understatement. I spent an afternoon exploring this creative, industrial art district neighborhood and left wanting to move here.

Cactuses and art everywhere:

Intrigued by these posters, I discovered the band Kitten (check them out on Spotify) and wish I’d still been in town for that show:

Let’s Dance

lets dance david bowie apartment soho

I walked by David Bowie’s Soho apartment yesterday, and let me tell you – it was an emotional experience. I’ve been weepy all week, this has been tough and I’m not one to get emotional in regards to celebrities. I’ve listened to David Bowie for so long that if there were ever a playlist of my life, it would be sprinkled with David Bowie tracks. I fondly remember mixing glitter into my nail polish when I was a girl, creating my own shades and giving them names like Ziggy Star Dust and Space Oddity. We lost a true artist, an innovator, someone who always took things too far, and it breaks my heart to pieces. Safe travels gentle soul. #fuckcancer

I love love love this Lets Dance mural that’s gone up right next to his building.

One of the exciting things about visiting the Wynwood Arts District is that new art pops up all the time. I fell in love with this mural by New York-based artist Logan Hicks when I visited last month. The details blew me away—his unique style captures multiple layers and intricacies very precisely. I was in Miami and felt myself being transported into the romanticized version of the dreamy streets of SoHo. You can learn more about Logan Hicks and his work here.

Here are a few photos I took at the Wynwood Art District from my recent visit to Miami. Some highlights of the trip include the artwork, swimming in the ocean, several trips to my favorite bakery and the overall energy of Miami – cue the beats of Truffle Butter.

More Towels?

More towels? Obvs. Hells yessss. Is that a trick question? Fresh clean towels always feel amazing. Especially in pretty and pretty dirty places like South Beach.

Happy Weekend everyone!
